The 365 Days Project Returns

Here’s a great way to start off 2007—Remember the 365 Days Project that took place in 2003, and which I blogged about here a few months ago? That was the WFMU-generated archive of odd and eccentric outsider music, ranging from Muhammad Ali’s anti-tooth decay record to Hindi versions of ABBA songs to home recordings of men claiming scientific proof that they were, in fact, Jesus Christ.
The project’s creator, Otis Fodder, has decided to crank it up again, and this time it’s going to be even better, he says. “The only change in 2007 is that everyday can feature more then just one mp3 (as server space was tight four years ago). So look for single songs to full albums shared by a host of contributors.”
As if to illustrate his point, 365/2007 starts off with a fascinatingly hilarious album by Michael Mills (not the dude who directed Thumbsucker) called Hidden and Satanic Messages in Rock Music. The entire Jesus-loving, rock-hating record is posted (hear exactly where E.L.O. and Prince encoded demonic messages in their music), and it bodes very well for the next 364 days of the year. Get to listening. Stevie Nicks and Beelzebub await you.
